Block Lecture

January 25, 2007

Everyone,

One of the most important educational events of the academic year for General Surgery is close at hand and I would very much like you to be involved.  Therefore I invite you to attend the ninth annual George E. Block Memorial Lecture on May 15, 2007.  The lecture will be delivered by Dr. Christoph E. Broelsch, Professor and Chair, Department of General, Visceral and Transplantation Surgery, University Hospital, Essen, Germany.    He is an international expert in liver transplantation and a former colleague of ours.  Dr. Broelsch will deliver a lecture on The Evolution of Living Related Liver Transplantation.  The lecture, made possible by the George E. Block Research and Educational Fund, will be held at in Billings Auditorium (Room P-117).  There will be a brief commemoration of George Block's accomplishments followed by an introduction of the guest speaker and, finally, Dr. Pollock's lecture.  This is one of the signature invited lectureships of the Department of Surgery which commemorates Dr. Block's commitment to clinical excellence and unwavering support of medical education.  I hope you will be able to attend this important event.

Sincerely yours,

Mitchell C. Posner, M.D.

Chief of General Surgery

Program Director of General Surgery Residency Program
