Aimee Kennedy, MD
Aimee was born in New Orleans and grew up in Lafayette, La. She graduated with honors in biology from Trinity University and followed in her father's footsteps by attending Baylor College of Medicine for medical school. She is absolutely thrilled to venture "up north" for residency at University of Chicago and cannot wait to experience all four seasons. In her free time she enjoys eating, painting and spending time with her two Texas-sized cats.
Jessica Yesensky, MD
Jessica grew up in Glen Ellyn, a suburb outside of Chicago. She graduated from Illinois Wesleyan where she studied biology. Jessica then attended Rush University for her medical education. After rotating at the University of Chicago during her fourth year of medical school, Jessica fell in love with the entire department and was fortunate enough to match at their program. Outside of the hospital, she enjoys running, reading and spending time with her two dogs, Greta and Nigel.
Brandon Chiu, MD
Brandon was born and raised in Toronto and attended Harvard University where he studied economics. During college, he was on the varsity tennis team and continued to play internationally afterwards. Brandon also made good use of this undergraduate degree and worked in finance at a hedge fund on the west coast for several years before matriculating at VCU School of Medicine. There, he was a class officer during all four years and graduated as a member of Alpha Omega Alpha. Brandon is ecstatic to be living in the Windy City with his wife, who is also a resident at the University of Chicago in the med-peds department. Outside the hospital, he enjoys cycling, running and simply spending time outdoors.
Marianella Paz-Lansberg, MD
Marianella - "Nella" - was born and raised in Venezuela where she attended medical school at the Central University in Caracas, graduating near the top of her class. While still in medical school, she developed a love for ENT and became interested in research, coming to Chicago in 2012 to develop these interests. Prior to entering residency, she did work as a research fellow at the University of Chicago, primarily in allergies and sinus pathologies. Nella loves cooking, yoga, smoothies, Whole Foods and spending time with her husband (and partner in crime) Daniel. Her dislikes include winters. She's thrilled to continue working with her many friends and colleagues here at the University of Chicago.
Lauren Sowa, MD
Lauren was born and raised in Lincoln, Rhode Island until leaving the Ocean State for college. She attended Duke University for undergrad, where she studied Cultural Anthropology and Dance. Before applying to medical school she spent two years in Boston doing research and receiving her Masters in Medical Science from Boston University. She attended Loyola University Chicago for medical school, where she fell in love with otolaryngology thanks to her amazing resident and faculty mentors. As a fourth year student, Lauren rotated at U of C and knew instantly that it was where she wanted to train. In her spare time, she enjoys exploring the incredible Chicago food scene, cooking for friends and family, dancing, and spending time with her fiance, who is an anesthesiology resident at another Chicago hospital.
Camil Correia, MD
Camil was born and raised in Southeastern Virginia. Her interest in medicine began in high school during an international service trip to Honduras, where she served as a translator for physicians running clinics in isolated towns and villages. She attended Yale University where she continued to pursue medicine and a passion for underserved populations in medicine. She enjoyed 2 years off working first in a home for troubled teen boys and then doing toxicology research prior to matriculating at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. She became interested in OHNS during medical school and is thrilled to be staying on for her training. Outside of work she enjoys hiking, biking, reading and cooking with her husband.
Kenneth Yan, MD
Kenny was born and raised in Potomac, Maryland until he left for college at MIT, where he majored in chemical engineering and biology. He created MIT’s first Asian a cappella group, Syncopasian, during his senior year. He then earned an MD/PhD at Case Western Reserve University, where he continued to pursue his love of music by singing for Doc Opera, the medical school’s annual charity show. It is his passion for music that first got him interested in otolaryngology. Kenny completed his PhD in cell biology on the topic of glioma cancer stem cells. Outside of work, Kenny enjoys traveling, cooking, singing karaoke, eating at all of the delicious restaurants in Chicago and reviewing them on Yelp, and spending time with his wife, a pediatrician.
Paige Kennedy, MD
Paige was raised in Lafayette, La. She attended Louisiana State University where she studied psychology, but ultimately found medicine to be her passion. She then attended Baylor College of Medicine, following in the footsteps of her father and sister. With such an excellent role model of an older sister, she decided to emulate her further, choosing to practice otolaryngology at the University of Chicago alongside her sibling. In her free time, Paige enjoys exercising, cooking/eating, reading, and participating in any activity involving the outdoors (but not during the winter!).
Dara Adams, MD
Dara hails from the Chicago suburbs and attended the University of Pennsylvania, where she studied Biological Basis of Behavior and Spanish. Following graduation, she worked for three years at Bain & Company in their Boston and London offices. She returned home to study medicine at the University of Chicago’s Pritzker School of Medicine, where she graduated with honors. Dara became interested in otolaryngology during medical school and was fortunate to spend a dedicated research year pursuing epidemiology research on loss of smell in older adults. She is thrilled to continue her training at the University of Chicago. Dara is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Omega Alpha honor societies. Outside of medicine, Dara enjoys running, travelling, being sous-chef for her husband’s cooking adventures, and chasing her toddler around the park.
Adam Howard, MD
Adam was born and raised in San Diego, CA. He attended UC Davis with the intent of eventually applying for medical school. After earning a BS in biochemistry and spending one year doing basic science research, he matriculated at Keck School of Medicine of USC. Adam is thrilled to have couples matched at the University of Chicago Medicine for Otolaryngology. Outside of the hospital, Adam spends his time playing guitar and drums, exploring the city, and exercising. He also loves to cook and eat, but especially eat, with his girlfriend who is an Internal Medicine resident at the University of Chicago.
