Welcome to the Section of Neurosurgery at The University of Chicago. The history of neuroscience here at the University is one that we pride ourselves on. We are committed to excellence in patient care, research and teaching.
We are devoted to the evaluation and treatment of both pediatric and adult neurosurgical disorders. The section has been divided into subspecialty programs to better identify expertise within neurosurgery. Our programs in neurovascular surgery, neuro-oncology, epilepsy, spinal surgery, pediatric neurosurgery, functional and stereotactic neurosurgery are world renowned. We utilize a full-range of neurosurgical technologies to provide the most up-to-date and effective treatment for the entire spectrum of neurological disease.
Our expertise goes beyond that of delivering the best medical care. Research is an integral part of our mission. We are actively engaged in basic science investigations as well as clinical research within each of the neurosurgical subspecialties. The section receives NIH funding in addition to other external funding. We are committed to developing the therapies of tomorrow and advancing the science of neurological surgery.
In addition, the section is devoted to the teaching of medical students as well as post-graduate training of neurosurgeons at the resident and fellow level.
