Movement Disorders

Current areas of research involve the study of Glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) infusion for Parkinson's disease and infusion of agonists and antagonists within the subthalamic nucleus of a rat Parkinson's model.

Other exciting studies are underway to investigate these disorders.  We are currently developing hydrocephalus models in rodents that will discover the consequences of the development of hydrocephalus on the ventricular wall area and the underlying cells, and its reversibility with shunting.  We are also investigating ways to prevent seizures in patients with focal epilepsy.
