Research

The faculty in the Section of Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation is actively involved in a broad range of research on bone and musculoskeletal diseases. The Section's ongoing research activities include: biomechanics of the knee; augmentation of flexor tendon repair and healing; the computerized analysis of bone strength; total hip and knee polyethylene wear and the biology of osteolysis; the molecular oncology of sarcomas; and basic science investigation into the roles of growth factors such as BMPs and Sox-9 in degenerative disc disease and repair of bone and cartilage.
