Fernandez-Lindsay Lecture

The Fernandez-Lindsay Lecture honors two extremely prominent figures in Otolarygology: Dr. Cesar Fernandez and Dr. John R. Lindsay.

Dr. Cesar Fernandez spent the early part of his medical career in his native country of Chile. After spending two years in Mexico, he was recruited by Dr. John Lindsay, to join the Section of Otolaryngology at the University of Chicago, where he remained for the rest of his career. His knowledge and devotion to research permeated the courses he taught and the conversations he had.

Dr. John R. Lindsay arrived at the University of Chicago in 1928. In 1930, he was named head of the Section of Otolaryngology. He was a superb clinician, highly skilled surgeon and a very devoted teacher. Through his work, Dr. Lindsay made numerous contributions to the world of present day practice of Otolaryngology.
