Alexander Langerman, MD

A native of Chicago, Alex attended Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, Iowa before returning to the area for medical school. During his tenure at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, he took a year off to study T-cell immunotherapy as a Fellow of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. He graduated with honors in June 2005, cut his teeth as an intern at the University of Chicago Hospital and remained here for his residency. Alex has now worked his way from second year tonsillectomies, tracheotomies, and panendoscopies through sinus surgery, neck dissections and finally North Shore rhinoplasties. His fourth year rounded out with otologic adventures at the Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage. Now as a chief resident, he addresses challenging, advanced endoscopic procedures and major otology, airway, and head and neck cases. During all of this, he has participated in the annual ENT-focused humanitarian trips to the Dominican Republic. A two-time recipient of the Sigari Prize for resident research and the beneficiary of numerous academic grants, Alex continues to research and publish on a variety of head and neck surgery topics. Upon finishing residency, Alex will be spending a year in Nashville, Tennessee for the head and neck fellowship at Vanderbilt University. Outside of the hospital, he enjoys movies, traveling, food and photography.

Will is from Kalamazoo, MI. He graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.S. in Microbiology in 2001 and went on to receive his M.D. from the University of Michigan Medical School in 2005. His hobbies include running, reading and traveling. Recent vacation excursions have included shark diving and sky diving. Potential areas of interest include pediatric otolaryngology and sinus surgery.
Mohamad Chaaban, MD

Born and raised in Lebanon, Mohamad was always drawn to helping people and striving to make a positive impact on their lives. He graduated with honors from the American University of Beirut Medical School and was elected as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. After completing medical school, Mohamad relocated to Michigan to complete a 1 year surgery internship. He then transferred to the University of Chicago as an OTO-I to commence his residency . His interests include basic science research and clinical research and he is currently involved in a number of projects at the University. On completion of his residency, Mohamad is planning to pursue a fellowship in rhinology. He applied to the match this year with results coming out in June 2010. Apart from his medical studies, he enjoys swimming , reading and music.

David originally hails from the Northeast. He completed his undergraduate work at the University of Virginia, and continued his studies at Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, PA. After college, David spent a year in Breckenridge, CO where, in addition to honing his fly fishing skills, he met his wife, Beth. David is interested in all aspects of otolaryngology especially head and neck, pediatrics, and rhinology.

Jonathan grew up outside of Chicago, attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he studied engineering and music, taught high school in Milwaukee, headed to Minnesota where he studied medicine at the Mayo Clinic, worked for Johns Hopkins University and Universidad Cayetano Heredia as a Fogarty Ellison Fellow in Lima, Peru, and now is a third year resident in OHNS. Jonathan is interested in working with kids and working abroad.

Andrea completed her undergraduate degree from The Pennsylvania State University State College. She came to the University of Chicago after completing her medical school education at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey with multiple honors. She is a member of the American Medical Women's Association, American Medical Association and American College of Physicians.
Christian Soneru, MD

Born and raised in the western suburbs of Chicago, Christian’s love for the city of Chicago began at an early age. He spent four years at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York majoring with honors in Neurobiology and then moved to New York City for four years at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Early in medical school Christian discovered OHNS and was then fortunate enough to end up back home, where he wanted to be, doing what he loves to do. He spends his winter vacations skiing and his summer vacations sitting on beaches.

Originally from Long Island, NY, Vicki loves being a new Chicagoan. She completed an 8 year Humanities in Medicine program at Siena College and Albany Medical College in Albany, NY, graduating AOA and with honors before making the move to the Midwest for residency. Vicki is currently in her OTO-1 year and is learning something new every day. She is interested in pursuing a career in Pediatric or General Otolaryngology with international work being an important part of her career. Outside of work she likes trying different restaurants around the city with her husband, Kris, enjoying the lakefront, traveling, and learning to cook.
