Vein Program

Our physicians, nurse specialists and ultrasound technologists all work closely to provide innovative treatment options for virtually all vein problems, whether for medical or aesthetic reasons, both at The University of Chicago Medical Center and our affiliate, Louis A. Weiss Memorial Hospital.  Common disorders diagnosed and treated at the Vein Center include varicose veins, spider veins, chronic venous insufficiency, deep vein thrombosis (blood clots), venous stasis ulcers, and leg wounds.

Our physicians offer numerous non-surgical, minimally invasive, and open surgical treatment options. Our vascular specialists are skilled in sclerotherapy, microphlebectomy, ligation & stripping, and radiofrequency ablation (VNUS Closure). Treatment recommendations are designed based on both the patient's desire and medical condition.

Advanced noninvasive diagnostic tests, coupled with progressive outpatient procedures, make the Vein Center one of the most innovative in the Chicago area. The program's accredited diagnostic services include ultrasound and color flow duplex, which quickly and painlessly determines the cause of the patient's vein condition.
