Allison Ostdiek, PhD

I have been involved with veterinary medicine with an emphasis on research since 2006. I am currently a clinical veterinarian in the Department of Surgery at the University of Chicago.

My background as a veterinarian (DVM 2010) and a researcher (PhD 2014) enables me to provide the medical knowledge needed for projects and assist with the surgical aspects. I have worked with swine cardiovascular models in industry and academia, and have an intimate knowledge of their behaviors, allowing me to judge possible post- procedural changes. I am also trained to read pathology and use a scanning electron microscope. I bring my knowledge of animals, wound healing, nanotechnology, pathology, and biomaterials to my previous and current research. I am always interested in collaborations.
