On October 1, the Department of Surgery hosted the 51st Annual Dr. Alfred A. Strauss Memorial Lectureship, welcoming Dana Telem, MD, MPH, Lazar J. Greenfield Professor and Chief of General Surgery at the University of Michigan.
Dr. Telem delivered an engaging and insightful lecture titled “Bringing Law and Order to the Wild West (or Bringing Law [evidence] and Order [rational decisions] to the Wild West [Hernia Repair])”, exploring the importance of evidence-based practice and critical decision-making in hernia surgery.
Her presentation was exceptionally well received by faculty, trainees, and staff, sparking thoughtful discussion and reflection across the department. The annual Strauss Lectureship continues to serve as a cornerstone of our Grand Rounds series, honoring the legacy of Dr. Alfred A. Strauss while bringing distinguished surgical leaders to share their expertise and inspire our academic community.
