We are pleased to report that our recent DEI screening and discussion of the documentary "Takeover" was a great success. The event, held on July 24th, brought together members of our department to engage in meaningful conversations about healthcare justice and the ongoing fight against institutional inequality. "Takeover" vividly chronicles the historic 1970 takeover of Lincoln Hospital by the Young Lords Party, a group of Puerto Rican activists who demanded accessible, quality healthcare for their community. The documentary sparked deep discussions about the parallels between past and present struggles for equitable healthcare. We are grateful for the active participation and thoughtful contributions from everyone who attended, and we look forward to continuing these important conversations in our ongoing DEI efforts.
