Last month, the Department of Surgery hosted an Implicit Bias Mitigation Workshop led by Tobias Spears, Associate Dean of Community and Divisional Values for the Biological Sciences Division. The session, held during Grand Rounds on August 27, was well-received and provided valuable strategies for recognizing and interrupting bias in daily clinical practice, recruitment, and interview processes. Faculty and staff who attended reported the training as both informative and impactful, reinforcing our shared commitment to fostering an inclusive, fair, and equitable environment within the Department.
