SNMA/AMEC Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana

On March 27th – March 31st the Department of Surgery was proud to participate in the esteemed Annual Medical Education Conference (AMEC), uniting underrepresented minority medical and premedical students from across the United States and the Caribbean. Our presence at these workshops and networking events facilitated meaningful engagement with students, allowing us to exchange invaluable insights, offer mentorship, and unveil promising opportunities. This proactive involvement not only reinforces the department's commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive medical community but also contributes to shaping future generations of culturally competent physicians.

Of note, we interfaced with nearly 200 medical students interested in our surgical training programs. Thanks to the many members of our department who made the trip to New Orleans to bolster our recruitment efforts!
